Overview[]
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is an action-adventure platform video game developed by Ninja Theory and published by Namco Bandai Games. It was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 5, October 7 and October 8, 2010 in North America, Australia, Japan and Europe respectively.[2][3] A premium version, featuring all DLC, was made for Microsoft Windows and Sony Playstation 3 and was later released on October 25, 2013.
The story is a re-imagining of the novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. Unlike the original story that was set in a fantastical version of ancient China, the game is set 150 years in a future post-apocalyptic world following a global war, with only remnants of humanity left, along with the still active war machines left over from the conflict. Like the original story however, the plot revolves around someone who forces the help and protection of a warrior, with many characters sharing the same names and roles. The game's story was written by Alex Garland, with voice talent and motion capture from Andy Serkis and Lindsey Shaw.[1]
Compatibility[]
Almost unplayable without tweak, 10-15fps.
With the tweak the game sees mostly 20+fps, with it hovering around 35+fps for platforming and fights. Cutscenes are usually 28-30fps.
Settings[]
Lowest resolution and settings.
Tweaks[]
So LowSpecGamer doesn't have a video for this game and there isn't really a discussion on how to tweak it to lower graphics. Despite multiple changes to MonkeyEngine.ini and BaseEngine.ini, none of the changes seemed to hold, even if the file was marked as read only.
The only tweak that I have so far been able to force Enslaved to accept, is the minimum resolution of 640x400, which definitely helps with the playability. To perform this mod go to
☀USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\MonkeyGame\Config\MonkeyGame.ini
Open it with notepad and scroll all the way until you see m_resolution, should be a whole list of them. At the top add:
"m_ResolutionValues=640x400" without quotation marks of course.
Afterwards, save the file and close it. Then right click on the file, go to properties and mark it read-only.
HiAlgo Switch doesn't do much of anything for this game either, but I hook it up just in case =\...
